Adrienne Sturrup

Adrienne Sturrup is Director of Austin Public Health and a public health leader with more than 27 years of experience advancing community health and wellness. Her work has focused on health equity, racial and health disparities, community engagement, HIV planning and services, culturally and linguistically appropriate practices, LGBTQI quality of life, and strengthening the role of community voice in public health decision-making.

Throughout her career, Adrienne has worked to move equity from principle to practice by building more inclusive and responsive systems. Her contributions include helping to develop Austin Public Health’s Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Materials (CLAMS) policy and e-learning series, as well as the department’s Equity Academy.

Adrienne holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Boston University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. She serves as President of the Texas Association of City and County Health Officials (TACCHO).
